The project

Wooden beams, arches, exposed stone and the Pacific as a backdrop.
The architecture already had it all. It just needed to be allowed to speak.

Almejas 8 is a penthouse in Conchas Chinas with an uncommon trait: it has direct Pacific views from the kitchen, the dining room, the living room and the bedroom. The original space had character: exposed wooden ceiling beams, arched doors and windows, stone columns and a terrace fully open to the ocean.

What it lacked was a material palette that lived up to all that context. The blue talavera tiles, the dark woodwork and the period furniture created a heavy interior that visually competed with what was outside. The challenge wasn't changing the architecture, but how it felt to be inside.

The proposal starts from a simple principle: remove everything that distracts. Light natural wood for the furniture and the kitchen, rattan and linen for the textures, sand-toned stone for the finishes. The beams stay exactly as they are. The arches become the common thread of the composition in every room.

The bedroom gets a treatment of its own: sunset light filtered through wooden slats, a natural linen bed, and from the bed, the ocean.

A penthouse that always had it all. Now, an interior that deserves it.

The starting point

The existing space

Arches, exposed beams, stone columns and ocean views in every direction. The ingredients were there. The proposal was to refine the palette and let the architecture take the leading role it deserves.

The proposal

Sand, wood and the Pacific

A palette that doesn't compete with the ocean — it frames it. Every material was chosen to amplify the light coming through those arches and the views opening onto the horizon.
